I just typed my draft action plan in a table format, but unfortunately it didn't post it the way I typed it!!! I'm going to try to figure out how to change it. Sorry for this!!! This blog is a learning process!!!!
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on how to post a table format is greatly appreciated!!! Or if I can add an attachment, would be even better!!!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I think you have a very good plan. You are offering training to these teachers, feedback time as well as time to update them and support them. At the end if whatever your findings are, you will implement them school-wide. This time line is well, set out. Question, will the teachers be keeping a journal?
ReplyDeleteYes, the teachers will be keeping a journal throughout this process. This will help them keep track of what seems to be working and what does not, as well as a place for them to reflect on their findings.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, your research plan seems fairly thorough. I'm curious, what kind of checklist are you using to determine whether the students are intrinsically or extrinsically motivated? Also, what kind of student data will you be collecting to determine how the students are being motivated, or if there is a change in the type of motivation? Once again, I think this is a fascinating topic, and I think the results of your research will allow the teachers on your campus to be more effective.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for helping me with completing week 4 part 3 assignment!!!
ReplyDeleteI will give the teachers a very simple checklist that basically will be in a table form, one side intrinsic the other side extrinsic. For the first couple of days of school, I will ask the teachers involved in the project to refrain from giving the students any kind of external rewards for work assignments and note down the students who stay on-task and finished the assignments without being redirected to stay on task. Also note the students who need that extra verbal encouragement and physical encouragement (ie. pat on the back, proximity control, high five, etc.) to stay on task and finish the assignments. After at least 2 weeks of this data collected, we might have a better idea of those students who do their work strictly based on the pleasure of the assignment and getting good grades, to those students who need that extra support to complete assignments. We will then introduce extrinsic rewards to those classes to observe how those students that needed the extra support, response to external rewards. We will also observe how the intrinsically motivated students respond to external rewards and if they will become dependent on completing assignments only if given a reward or if they will continue to be primarily intrinsically motivated. The data will basically be collected via the checklists, teacher kept journals, student interviews, and teacher interviews. At the end, I hope to determine not only how my students are motivated, but also the positive and negatives results to extrinsic motivation.
Michelle, I have a question. In assignment 3, part 2 and 3, are they the same think that you posted on your blog, but with modifications and revisions?
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy. Yes, part 2 & 3 are the same but with modifications and revisions (if you made any). I had the same questions. It wasn't very clearly stated what exactly they want from us. I had to email Stacey a couple of times.... Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteYes, it helps. Thank you. Enjoy your trip.
ReplyDeletethank you Wendy. We leave tomorrow.... If by any chance you happen to find out where to post our action research plan in our E-portfolio, please share. I can't find it. I have emailed Stacey, but I'm still waiting for a response....
ReplyDeleteThank you!
